Sweet Rats And Mice!

I cannot begin to express my sadness over the inhumane treatment of rats and mice in Petco these days. We owned three sweet feeder rats for a few years and then they died of cancer. I go to the pet store with my Mom for Beta fish supplies and crickets for my nephew's lizards. We also buy bird seed there. Every time I am there, I think of the horrible cruelty those feeder rats and mice go through with snakes as feeder rats. I have read different places that this is not only horrible for the rats and mice, but the not good for the snakes. The rodents lash out at them for survival and the snakes can get hurt. But I am more concerned for these sweet scared little creatures (rats and mice) that we should treat well and have as pets. Buy the feeder rats for pets!! They are super sweet. Also, you are saving a life. The rats are easy to have around on your shoulder or playing in the house and you can give them healthy food for snacks. No cheese, chocolate, or citrus fruits though. Tell others this and encourage friends and family and acquaintances not to feed live rats and mice to their snakes!!! They have dead frozen ones instead. Or better yet, don't own a snake.
